The Elementary Education program prepares professionals to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences to meet the needs, capabilities, and interests of children in grades K-6. The purpose of the course work within the degree is designed to update students' knowledge and skills in research-based language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies content, educational psychology, curriculum and teaching, evaluation of teaching and learning, and foundations of education. The master's degree is intended to help teachers develop higher levels of competence and expertise than is possible in initial certification programs.
Elementary teachers now have the opportunity to earn a master’s degree with a Class A Alabama teaching certificate through distance education. As a distance education student, you will receive instruction from Auburn University elementary education faculty who teach on campus courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Distance Learning Option
Distance program offerings in Elementary Education include the traditional master’s degree. Courses are primarily offered asynchronously via online. Contact the Program Coordinator for additional program specific information relating to technology, exam, software/hardware, and technical competence requirements.
