Chemistry Education

The Chemistry Education program prepares chemistry teachers for grades 6-12. Course work in chemistry and supporting science courses provide the knowledge to teach required and elective courses in state-approved chemistry programs. Professional education courses address theory-based and pedagogical content knowledge and skills for chemistry teacher who provide enriched learning experiences designed to engage students in the meaningful learning and understanding of chemistry.

Accreditation and Approvals

Auburn University holds regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Auburn University’s College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist programs in Science Education are approved by the Alabama State Board of Education. In addition, the State of Alabama signs the National Association of State Directors of Education and Certification (NASDTEC) Interstate Agreement which facilitates the applications of graduates when they apply for certification in other states.
