Guest lecturer to discuss blood flow physiology

The Department of Kinesiology and Auburn University's Biggio Center au icon will welcome Medical College of Wisconsin associate dean for postdoctoral education and professor of anesthesiology and physiology Philip Clifford as a guest lecturer on Wednesday, March 27.

The open campus lecture will take place at 3:30 p.m. in Haley Center 2116.

The seminar will focus on future research avenues related to blood flow control to the legs. In addition to exercise, Clifford’s research interests connect to diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Clifford is a fellow of the American Heart Association and the American College of Sports Medicine and serves on the editorial boards of seven physiological journals. He current leads a research program investigating the physiological mechanisms that regulate skeletal muscle blood flow during exercise.

His has written more than 120 peer-reviewed manuscripts and reviews on the subject and has recently been published in the Journal of Physiology and in Advances in Physiology Education. Clifford’s research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health since 1988.
