The Collaborative Approach to Training Transition Specialists (CATTS) scholars from the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation and Counseling will host a Community Transition Expo to address the concerns of students with disabilities, their families and school personnel.
The event, "Preparing for Tomorrow – Today," will be held Thursday, October 25, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Opelika. The expo will enable more than 250 middle and high school students with disabilities from the area to hear from representatives of state agencies and transition specialists what accommodations and benefits are available to them during school. They will also receive information aimed at helping them achieve education, employment and independent living goals in post-secondary settings.
