The Truman Pierce Institute has a long history of service. It was created in 1982 in response to growing national and regional concerns related to the study and improvement of teaching and learning. Its mission is to improve education in the Southern region of the nation based on the ideological foundation that education should prepare people to live useful, rewarding lives by developing their interests and abilities.
