Giving Opportunities

College of Education alumni and friends, as well as supporters from the corporate world and charitable foundations, provide the private support our College's people and programs need to maintain a nationally renowned commitment to excellence. While current tax code encourages the tangible benefits of charitable giving, the intangible rewards can be greater. Through involvement with faculty, students and fellow contributors, the donor can explore and enjoy the value of his or her investment in the College of Education through a variety of giving opportunities:

Auburn Fund

The Auburn Fund is the university's ongoing effort to enrich the lives of current and future students, and making a difference in their overall experience while at Auburn. Donors throughout the year unite through a variety of programs and gifts of all sizes to become the largest source of funds designated to support the College of Education and other academic colleges, schools and programs. This translates into scholarships and graduate fellowships, technology upgrades, technology availability, enhanced student recruitment, library enhancements and faculty teaching awards. Auburn Fund programs include the annual phonathon effort on behalf of the College of Education (which often features Education students as callers), and giving programs specifically designed for faculty and staff, students and parents. All levels of Auburn Fund giving allow donors to make contributions to areas of greatest priority in the college as determined by the dean, or gifts to specific programs or activities in the college. Along with that, higher percentages of Auburn donors increases the university's standings in national rankings (such as those by U.S. News), not to mention among SEC institutions in the annual SEC Challenge that ranks alumni giving. The Honor Roll

The College of Education's has established The Honor Roll as a permanent listing of individuals who have been recognized by current or former students, colleagues, family members or friends through a charitable contribution of $500. The Honor Roll is a fund created to commemorate the significant role of educators in our lives, with contributions used to provide support to the college's students and faculty. Learn more

Dean's Circle - Patrons of the Keystone

Patrons of the Keystone believe that education is central to building a better future for all. Patrons of the Keystone demonstrate their support of the college by committing a multi-year pledge of financial support to the Dean's Circle Fund. Each year, donations to the Dean's Circle Fund provide the necessary resources for the college to exceed current levels of excellence in advancing its tri-fold mission of academic instruction, research and outreach. Undergraduate Scholarships

Scholarships provide donors a wonderful opportunity to create a legacy while supporting students. These awards can be made to students in the name of the donor or a person the donor wishes to honor in a meaningful way. Scholarships have been established by individuals, families, friends and even corporations for occasions that include birthdays, anniversaries, career achievements and special thank-yous. Donors wishing to support undergraduate students have a variety of options, ranging from $1,000 one-time or annual scholarships, to endowed scholarships with a minimum gift of $25,000 (payable over five years).

Now through December 2011, the university's Auburn Scholarship Campaign gives donors a unique opportunity to couple donor support with existing Spirit of Auburn and Academic Scholarships to create enhanced scholarship resources for high-performing students, while at the same time having the same chance to award the entire scholarship in the name of the donor or someone of the donor's choosing. Graduate Fellowships and Assistantships

Like undergraduate scholarships, graduate student fellowships and assistantships recognize the scholarly and research accomplishments of our graduate students. The College of Education currently hosts the largest enrollment of graduate students among the university's 14 academic colleges and schools, so this support is vital in supporting these students' work. Merit-based fellowship contributions can be through a one-time or annual contribution of $1,000, or endowments beginning at $25,000. Learn more

Professorship Endowments

A named endowed professorship honors the donor and assists academic departments by providing the resources necessary to provide an appropriate level of support for faculty. They also aid in recruiting and retaining high-quality professors. Endowed professorships are naming opportunities and can carry the names of the donor(s) or someone they wish to honor. Endowed named professorships provide salary supplements to existing salaried position professors. These supplements may also be used to supplement travel and research expenses. Learn more

A wide variety of other endowment opportunities exist, with varying giving levels, that can support needs at the college, departmental and program level, or needs among faculty, researchers, administrators and students. Learn more

Planned Gifts

Planned, or deferred, giving allows donors to leave a legacy to the college through a variety of estate-planning options. Such gifts can include cash, securities, real estate and life insurance, just to name a few. A full gambit of opportunities are available based on a donor's individual needs, circumstances, life stage and needs of living heirs. Learn more

About our 501(c)(3) status

The Auburn University Foundation , by Board of Trustees mandate, is the designated recipient of gifts for Auburn University's campuses in Auburn and Montgomery, including the College of Education. The Foundation is certified as a "qualified charitable organization" and meets the standards and requirements of the Internal Revenue Service within the meaning of IRS code Section 501(c)(3). Under this code, all contributions are deductible for federal income tax purposes (subject to statutory limitations) and for federal estate and gift tax purposes. The Foundation's federal identification number for tax purposes is 63-6022422.
