Contributions by check or money order should be made payable to the Auburn University Foundation, and mailed it to: Office of Development, College of Education, 3084 Haley Center, Auburn, AL 36849-5218. Please ensure to note the purpose, or designation, of your gift on the memo line of your check or include a brief note (or download a printable gift card
). Without designation, your gift will be directed to the “area of greatest need” as determined by the dean.
EFTs, or monthly bank drafts, are a convenient way to support Auburn. Specify your gift amount (minimum of $10 monthly) and designation according to your personal choice. To request the form necessary to begin an EFT or make an inquiry, please contact the Office of Development's Auburn Fund office at 334.844.1445 or awtrysh@auburn.edu.
Many corporations participate in matching the gifts of their employees. Some double or triple each dollar contributed. Your wise market investment is a great gift to Auburn! By donating the financial instrument, you avoid long-term capital gains tax and deduct the full market value on your tax return. It is almost always to your advantage to transfer appreciated securities to the Foundation directly, rather than selling them and giving cash. Please contact the Office of Development's Auburn Fund office at 334.844.1445 or awtrysh@auburn.edu to learn how to make this transfer. Even if you have given stock previously, it is very important to contact the Auburn Fund office so your gift is properly designated and you receive the recognition and tax credit you deserve.
Works of art, rare books, antique furnishing and other tangible personal property can help support education and greatly enhance the quality of the Auburn experience. Such gifts must be appraised by an outside expert (if value is more than $5,000) or have a documental receipt value. Please contact 334.844.0218 with questions. Such gifts should be accompanied by an Auburn University Foundation gift-in-kind form
.
Many donors contribute real estate, such as a residence, vacation home, farm, ranch, commercial property or land, to the Foundation. These gifts receive the same tax treatment as gifts of securities — no capital gains tax plus deductibility at fair-market value. Visit the Office of Development's Real Estate Gift web page
for more details and contact information for any questions you might have.
Endowed funds differ from others in that they are truly the gift that keeps giving. Instead of the entire amount of the gift being spent outright, the total amount of the gift is invested. Each year, only a portion of the invested income earned is spent while the remainder is added to the original principal. An endowment is a perpetual gift because only the interest is used to support the university while the principle continuously grows. An endowment is a great way to link your legacy with our future forever.
In the College of Education, endowments support scholarships, graduate student fellowship and assistantships, professorships, research and outreach, facilities and equipment, operations and other needs and opportunities in the college. The university's Office of Development also offers additional information
on endowments.
