Positions: Two Assistant Professors, tenure track. We are especially seeking applicants with research and teaching expertise in fitness, conditioning, and performance.
Qualifications: While applicants with a wide range of specializations within the field of Kinesiology will be considered, those who have applied their specialty to the areas of fitness, conditioning, and performance are particularly encouraged to apply. Specialties may include motor learning, motor development, neuromotor control, biomechanics, exercise psychology, and sport psychology, and basic and/or applied exercise physiology.
Required: Ph.D. in Kinesiology or closely related field. Evidence of potential in grant scholarship and external funding; strong publication record, and evidence of innovative research and a history of success. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and workplace collegiality. Must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time appointment begins, and be able to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
Desired: University teaching experience; active participation in pertinent professional organizations; relevant practical/clinical experience and certifications; experience with on-line teaching and learning.
Responsibilities: Establish a successful research program leading to publications in premier refereed journals, presentations in national and international venues, and extramural funding; teach graduate and undergraduate classes in Physical Activity and Health within the fitness, conditioning, and performance track; participate in curriculum development; recruit, advise, and train students in the M.Ed., M.S., and Ph.D. degree plans, including supervision of graduate research; perform Department, College, University, community, and professional service.
Starting Date: August 16, 2013.

The Department of Kinesiology will be moving into a new “state of the art” building as sole occupant in Spring 2013. AU also has a new MRI Research Center that contains a Siemens Verio open-bore 3T scanner for clinical and research use, and one of the first actively-shielded whole-body 7T MRI scanners in the US for research use. Kinesiology’s new Health and Performance Optimization Center, housed in the new MRI facility, will have its grand opening Fall 2012. AU is centrally located in the southeastern United States in Auburn, AL, a city with a population of about 56,000. Auburn’s size offers numerous advantages to its residents and is a quintessential college town with attractive demographic makeup and geographic location. Salary: Assistant Professor Level, competitive and commensurate with experience; excellent health benefits and retirement package.
