Non-tenured position as Clinical Assistant Professor in English for Speakers of Other Languages

EFFECTIVE DATE: Fall Semester 2013

POSITION: Non-tenured position as Clinical Assistant Professor in English for Speakers of Other Languages

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in ESOL and other related areas according to expertise; supervise internships and practica; advise students; assist with extramural funding and implementation of grant projects; take an active role in partnerships with school systems and academic life in the department. 

Auburn University's ESOL Program, situated in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching, prepares individuals for teaching in K-12 settings. The program includes language and literacy development and content area achievement for English language learners (ELLs), coursework in curriculum development and teaching methods, evaluation of teaching and learning, and identification and utilization of technological resources. The Department of Curriculum and Teaching is a supportive and collaborative academic environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:  Doctorate (or ABD) in ESOL/ESL or a related field; evidence of at least 3 years successful full-time teaching experience in USA K-12 schools; proficiency in teaching with technology; excellent communications skills.

Preferred:  Evidence of superior teaching; demonstrated interest in teaching university ESOL courses; experience in supervising internships or clinical field experiences; experience teaching via distance technologies.

RANK/SALARY: Clinical Assistant Professor (non-tenure track, nine-month contract) at a salary commensurate with experience and other qualifications. Minimum one-year contract, renewable yearly, based on need, funding and performance.  Individuals hired ABD will be hired as instructors until they receive their terminal degree, no later than 8/16/2013.
