Details: TKC was thrilled to bring YPS back to Alabama for the third year in a row! This summer, we partnered with the Office of Sustainability and the Truman Pierce Institute at Auburn University to bring YPS to the Auburn campus. This residential program was open to high school students from around the country who are interested in learning about water resources and coming up with their own sustainable solutions for water issues. Auburn University is the perfect setting for this topic, as the campus boasts state of the art stream restoration expertise, an internationally recognized citizen water monitoring program, the Alabama Water Watch/Global Water Watch based out of their Fisheries Department and more. Students lived in dorms on the Auburn campus, with YPS staff and student Resident Advisors providing supervision and program activities. Students not only benefited from Auburn's expertise and resources on water issues, but also from the chance to go on a campus tour and talk to current students about the Auburn college experience.
