Auburn City Schools/Auburn University Leadership Capacity Building Program

Purpose:  To develop the leadership capacity of current and potential educational leaders within the school system.

Goals:

  1. To provide relevant job-embedded professional development for current administrators
  2. To develop the leadership skills and content knowledge of assistant principals and teacher leaders who may become administrators
  3. To engage In pertinent research and collaborate with the Leadership CBA Administrative Team in decision making

Program Description:

  • Program for current principals/assistant principals/teachers
  • Two academic years
  • Voluntary participation
  • Competitive selection
  • Monthly meetings first year, semester meetings second year

Outcomes:

  • At the end of the school year the group will present to central office administrators and the school board key insights and innovations stemming from these professional development sessions. This will be an opportunity to demonstrate the leadership skills learned for implementation at the school level.
  • At the team building retreat the group will identify a common action project to enhance the school system. Time will be provided at each session for the group to work on this project. At the end of the year, the group will present their project for a system level recommendation.

Evaluation:

  1. Self-assessments of professional growth by participants
  2. Assessment of depth of comments of online reflective comments
  3. Number of participants returning each session
  4. Quality of projects and presentations
