Dr. Cindy Reed, Gerald and Emily Leischuck Endowed Professor of Educational Leadership and Director of the Truman Pierce Institute, was elected as President-Elect of the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) at the Annual Conference in November 2011. The University Council for Educational Administration, the top professional organization for the educational leadership field, is an international consortium of major research universities with doctoral programs in educational leadership and policy. The purposes of UCEA are to improve the preparation of educational leaders, engage in research on leadership preparation, promote the development of professional knowledge in school improvement and administration, and to work with policy makers to improve the quality of educational leadership and preparation programs. While president-elect, Reed will work with a planning committee (Lisa Kensler-Auburn University, Susan Korach-University of Denver, and Cosette Grant-Overton, University of Cincinnati) to plan the 2012 annual conference. During that conference, Dr. Reed will become president of UCEA and will serve a one-year term.
