Facilities

The College of Education is located in five buildings on campus — Haley Center, Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, Wallace Center, the Dawson Building and Ramsay Hall.

The dean's office and the majority of the college's offices and classroomsHaley Center are housed in Haley Center. Haley Center is the largest building on the Auburn University campus, capable of serving 8,000 students during any hour of the academic day. Classrooms and offices are shared with the College of Liberal Arts. The AU Bookstore is also located on the first floor of Haley Center.

Haley signHaley Center was completed in 1969 and reflects the architectural style of that era. It was named for Paul S. Haley, an Auburn trustee for 51 years. An encompassing view of the beautiful Auburn University campus may be obtained from the Haley Center deck. The offices, classrooms and laboratories of the Department of Kinesiology are primarily housed in Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum and will remain there until a new Kinesiology building opens in 2013. Originally named in memory of Auburn alumni ''who made the supreme sacrifice for their country in its four wars of this century,'' Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum was officially dedicated at halftime of the Auburn-Vanderbilt game on February 22, 1969.

ColiseumThe facility was renamed Joel H. Eaves Memorial Coliseum in September 1987 in recognition of Coach Eaves' lasting contributions to Auburn basketball. Eaves, who guided Auburn to its first Southeastern Conference regular-season championship in 1960, tops the school's all-time list with 213 victories in 14 seasons (1949-50 to 1962-63). It became known by its present name, Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum in 1993. Jeff Beard was Auburn's athletic director from 1951-72 and is remembered as one of the greatest ever at the university.

Wallace CenterVocational and adult education programs are housed in the Wallace Center. The Wallace Center was built in 1984 and named in honor of Gov. George C. Wallace, two years after his second term election as governor of the state of Alabama.

The Auburn University Center for Disability Research and Service is located in the Dawson Building. Formerly parking services, the Dawson Building was renovated in the winter and spring of 2010 to fit the needs of the Center for Disability Research and Service.

Ramsay Hall houses two of the college's centers for research and outreach -- the Truman Pierce Institute and the Auburn Transition Leadership Institute. The building, constructed in 1925 with the help of a $100,000 gift from Birmingham industrialist Erskine Ramsay, also includes classroom and office space for the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.
