ah! angry!
May 6th, 2005 by StephanieI’m so ticked off! Okay I was watching CNN today, and all of a sudden, there was a special report on blogs! Apparently there is a blog association meeting this weekend in Nashville to–get this–give a seminar on journalism to bloggers! Now, while some people might think this is awesome because bloggers will now report with more knowledge of journalism, this makes me mad because these people dont deserve a journalism seminar! I and thousands of other people am working hard to become journalists, and these people get to attend some free thing over 2 days to become certified? What a joke! oh well, I guess the difference in our futures is that I will be getting PAID.

People all around are going ga-ga over blog-journalism phenomenon. I think it’s not over-hyped but yes, this shortcut to becoming a journalist is indeed laughable…

I have a journalism degree. It isn’t worth that much, believe me. If you want to get paid there are a lot better things to do with your time in school.

echo what robert says. Journalism/Englihsh double major. At 43, I can tell you that blogging will teach you more about writing journalistically than journalism class. But learn the fundamentals first.

Woohoo! Way to crush the spirits, Robert! And, while I worked at the college paper, my degree is Philosophy which probably made me a better writer (or at least more creative).
Since so many bloggers like to think of themselves as journalists, I rather that they at least get a 2-day seminar on journalism and (hopefully) libel law, so they watch what they write, or think before hitting post. That’s better than having no no knowledge or experience in journalism at all.
Sometimes, you take what you can get.
