Clickers: Instructions for Students

Set up your clicker with your clicker ID before your come to the first lab!!!

Your clicker ID will be the same as your Auburn University Username (the first part of your Auburn University email address).  Note that this is NOT your student ID number.

To set up your clicker with your clicker ID:

1. turn on your clicker (the slide key on the far left),

2. hit the * button until you see "Setup menu" on the top line of the screen (probably two * hits to get that).

3. Then use the up/down arrows to scroll to where it says "ID:" at the bottom.  It will probably already have an ID there like ABCDETF.

4. Hit the enter button (the one with the green arrow), then for Student ID enter your Auburn University username (that is the part of your Auburn University email address before @auburn.edu).  Use the letters and numbers on the keypad to enter this; for letters other than ABCDETF you can enter one of the letters that is on the keypad and then use the up/down arrows to scroll to the correct letter.  Keep doing this for each character until you have you whole username displayed.  You can use the back arrow (next to the *) to erase characters as needed.

5. Don't hit the enter button until you have your whole username entered, but once you do have it all in there you MUST hit the green enter key to save it. After you do so the bottom line will say "ID:username" where 'username' is the your username that you entered.  If you entirely mess up you can simply start over.

6. Check your username on the screen.

The clickers have a built-in sleep function to save battery life, so if the screen goes blank on you just hit any key to wake up your clicker.

CLICKER RULES:

  • Have your clicker with you and ready for use at the first lab meeting.
  • Clickers will be used for quizzes starting with the first lab; you will never be allowed to take the quiz on paper, all quizzes must be taken using a clicker.

  • Dead batteries will NOT be accepted as an excuse.
  • A malfunctioning clicker excuse is good for ONE lab only; you are responsible for getting the excuse signed by the GTA and turned in during the lab where the malfunction occurred, and you are responsible for getting a replacement clicker before your next lab.
