Allison Thompson, Congressman Terry Everett's aide visits Catfish Genetics Facility

Allison Thompson visited Auburn University’s Aquatic Genomics Unit on February 2, 2006. Dr. John Liu gave a brief report and a tour to our laboratory.

Congressman Mike Rogers and staff visit Catfish Genetics Facility

Congressman Mike Rogers and his staff visited Auburn University’s Aquatic Genomics Unit on August 25, 2004. In particular, he was interested in catfish genome research. A brief report was made to him by Dr. John Liu. Afterwards, he met with catfish genome students and staff and discussed catfish genetics research. For pictures and details, please click here


LIU MERITS CHINESE PROVINCE'S FOREIGN EXPERT AWARD
John Liu, AU professor of fisheries and allied aquacultures, has been presented the Sichuan Province of China's 2003 Golden Summit Award in for his contributions to economic development and social progress in Sichuan. Liu's award marks the second time in less than a month that a Chinese province has recognized an AU College of Agriculture representative as its most outstanding foreign expert. Sichuan Gov. Zhang Zhongwei presented Liu the Golden Summit, or Jinding Award in a ceremony Oct. 16 in Chengdu, Sichuan's capital city. To read more log on to http://www.ocm.auburn.edu/news_releases/liu.html

CATFISH GENETICIST, DEAN PEN CHAPTER FOR DNA BOOK
An AU fisheries professor internationally recognized for his groundbreaking catfish genome research has collaborated with the interim dean of the AU College of Agriculture to author a chapter in a new British publication, Celebrating 50 Years of DNA. The chapter by John Liu, AU Alumni Professor in the Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures, and John Jensen, interim agriculture dean and director of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station and former head of AU's Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquaculture, focuses on the genetic advances that have occurred in aquaculture in the past decade.
