Some Suggestions for HA Students


From time to time students inquire about opportunities for part-time employment in the local community, both for the sake of relevant job experience and for financial reasons. This page seeks to address that concern.

First off, it's important to realize that any job experience is preferable to no job experience, and even volunteer work is better than no experience at all! This means that, if you cannot obtain a part-time position in a health care organization, then a part-time position with some other type of organization is better than no job experience. Ideally, it needs to be a position where you can acquire supervisory experience or learn some skill useful to your career (e.g. record keeping or work with computers). This list does not pretend to be exhaustive. New organizations are starting all the time. For the most thorough listings, consult the local section of the "Yellow Pages" in the local telephone directory. If, in your own job hunt, you find other information that should be included here, send your suggestions! A number of the organizations listed below provide further information about themselves in ads in the relevant section of the "Yellow Pages."

This list includes only the larger area clinics (three or more MD's) or clinics with which the HA Program has had substantial contact. Note that several of these list their address as "Medical Arts Center Opelika." The Medical Arts Center is located acr oss the Pepperell Parkway from East Alabama Medical Center.
