Begun in 1971, HA had an initial enrollment of 6 students and was first oriented toward students planning graduate study in a field related to health administration, particularly hospital administration. With a current enrollment of 60-70 students, it serves both those planning to enter graduate school and students intending to seek employment immediately after graduation from Auburn University. Its graduates enter careers in a wide variety of health-related administrative areas, including not only hospitals but also long-term care facilities, clinics, and managed care providers.
The HA Program is a member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), one of only a few such programs in the Southeastern United States, to be so designated.
