The Auburn University HA Alumni Organization

The Auburn University Health Administration Alumni Organization (AUHAAO), was founded in 1983. As stated in its Bylaws, its purpose is providing "an organized structure which advances and develops effective health administration in health care institutions and agencies by:
  1. Stimulating the exchange of information and furthering the professional education and personal development of its membership.
  2. Promoting high standards of professional ethics, conduct, education and achievement.
  3. Promoting unity for support of Auburn University, its health and hospital administration programs, and the health care industry.
  4. Providing an avenue through which health and hospital administration alumni and others interested in health administration can participate more fully in the health and hospital administration programs of Auburn University."

Activities

The HA Alumni Organization has a general meeting at least once a year on the Auburn campus. Their next meeting is tentatively scheduled for 8:00 a.m. the Saturday of the A-Day Game (details to be announced subsequent to the announcement of that game).

This Fall's meeting was on October 14, 2006. Highlights of the meeting included:

  • Discussion of the idea of regional sub-chapters.
  • Discussion of details of an alumni-funded scholarship
  • Plans an expanded Spring 2007 meeting format to be held February 23 and 24th, including a series of educational presentations February 23.

To recent graduates of the HA Program and other alumni in the process of career mobility, the HA Alumni Organization provides a valuable source of networking in the field. Moreover, officers and members of the organization, several of whom are members of the related HA Program Advisory Council, provide a valuable source of input into program development.

The Officers of the HA Alumni Organization are listed below. Contact any of them if you have suggestions or ideas for the organization.

This Spring, February 22-24, organization will host a Health Administration Education Conference featuring a variety of speakers across the health care field, plus social events and a celebration of the 35th anniversary of the HA Program..
