Judith Lechner is an Professor in the department of Educational Foundations, Leadership, and Technology in the College of Education at Auburn University. She holds the PhD in Library and Information Science from University of California, Los Angeles, Master of Education from Auburn University in Alabama, Master of Library Science from Columbia University, in New York, and B.S. in Biology from The City College of New York. She has been teaching at Auburn University since 1988.
Her primary teaching areas are children's literature/media, both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and reference materials and services for school library/media specialists.
Dr. Lechner's main research interests are global and multicultural
children's
literature, illustration in children's books, biographies and science
literature
for children; and folktales as a genre in children's literature. She
also
reviews children's books for the National Science Teachers' Association
and for School Library Journal. Her articles appeared in such journals
