Petroglyphs of Eastern Utah

Images

This is part of a very large wall of glyphs in Nine Mile Canyon.  You'll see lots of anthropomorphic
(human-like) shapes as well as geometric & animal
shapes as well.

This pic was taken at Dinosaur National Monument near Vernal, Utah. The glyphs is of anthropomorphic  shape.  Notice that it appears to have horns or antennae. In all the photos in the books I have seen, none look exactly like this. Sort are similar, of course, but none quite compare to the attributes of these.
Another portion of a large wall.  Lots of different shapes here like the bodies with hollow mid-sections.  In one book I read, it said that often if you find a shape like this the hollow part will have another tiny body inside denoting a pregnancy.  On the photo above I wasunable to see if the hollowed parts had any other anthropomorphic shape inside of them.
This glyph photo was also taken in Dinosaur National Monument. This one was in another area of the monument. These glyphs were unusual because they were carved into the rock more so than carved into the patina (the dark surface of
some rocks). They appear to be sort of like a series of dots.  The shell like design & eagle photos are also made in this manner.
This one appears to be more of a relief type glyph than the others.
Another wall of glyphs.  In the far corner you'll see a goat (maybe a horse?).  I still haven't figured out what those dots are supposed to be.
I'm really not sure what this one is supposed to be but to me, it looks like an eagle.  One of my personal
favorites because it is so unique.
This is an example of a spirit glyph.  According to the books I have read, the position of the arms raised and open handed are a sign of a spirit in a "prayer stance".  This shape
also appears to have horns/antennae coming from his head.
